A major water expansion project is underway along the Missouri River to provide fresh water to hundreds of thousands of people in South Dakota. Contractors for the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System are constructing a Ranney well to draw water from an aquifer 140 feet below the surface. Sudanese officials say that a drone launched by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces targeted the airport in Khartoum, the country's capital. The officials say the drone was intercepted and downed on Monday and didn't cause any damage or casualties. A military official said the drone was launched from a neighboring country but provided no further details. Sudan's military government confirmed the drone was intercepted. The man accused of sparking the deadly Palisades Fire in Los Angeles was upset that he didn’t have plans for New Year’s Eve and told Uber passengers he was angry at the world hours before the initial blaze was sparked. That's according to court documents filed by prosecutors. Jonathan Rinderknecht's trial is set for June 8. His lawyers say he is being used as a scapegoat for the Los Angeles Fire Department’s failure to fully extinguish a blaze that started a week prior. Rinderknecht was charged in October and has pleaded not guilty.

Authorities say a driver has plowed into people in a busy shopping area in the center of the German city of Leipzig, leaving two people dead. The mayor said another three people were seriously injured on Monday afternoon in what officials believe was a deliberate rampage. An unspecified number of people sustained less serious injuries. Authorities in Oklahoma are looking for suspects Monday in a mass shooting at a weekend party. Police say at least 23 people suffered injuries although it's not clear how many were shot. Hospitals in the Oklahoma City area say they treated at least 18 people after the shooting Sunday night at the lakeside party. Police say no arrests have been made.
