Ex-A’s pitcher Mike Norris heads San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame class

Former A’s pitcher Mike Norris and the Sacred Heart Cathedral state-title winning girls basketball duo of coach Brian Harrigan and Tierra Rogers highlight the 37th annual San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame class, which will be honored in the spring.

Norris, a 1973 Balboa graduate, was Oakland’s first-round pick that year and made his major-league debut in 1975. He spent all 10 of his MLB seasons with the A’s, going 58-59 with a 3.89 ERA. His best season was 1980 when he finished second in the Cy Young Award voting after a 22-9, 2.53 ERA season in which he threw 24 complete games.

Norris, who also attended now-defunct Poly, was 7-0 his senior season at Balboa.

Harrigan, now an assistant at University, is 703-241 in a 30-year career.
