Police: Evansville man broke cop's nose in hospital attack
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Police say a man attacked an Evansville officer inside a hospital, leaving him hospitalized with a broken nose.
Evansville police say 28-year-old Justin Brunner was at St. Vincent's Hospital on Tuesday for a crisis intervention when hospital staff asked Detective Aaron McCormick to make sure Brunner didn't leave before the evaluation was finished.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports that Brunner allegedly attacked McCormick when the officer tried to stop him from leaving the hospital.
McCormick fell during the struggle and Brunner allegedly got on top of him and hit him in the head several times.
McCormick was hospitalized with a broken nose and other facial injuries.
