Oscar Nominee Alfonso Cuarón: ‘Audiences Are Hungry for Diversity in Cinema’
When Alfonso Cuarón was making “Roma,” he figured that the black-and-white, Spanish-language film based on his own childhood memories would have a very small, very specific audience far smaller than that of his previous film, “Gravity.”
“I thought that it was going to be something that I had to do, something I needed to do emotionally,” he said. “And I thought it would be something very specific that maybe was not going to have a lot of attention, and that was fine.”
