Sheriff aims to hold ICE detainees who are 'raping' citizens

0

GRAHAM, N.C. (AP) — Commissioners in a North Carolina county have approved $2.8 million to proceed with contracts to house federal detainees after the sheriff said the immigrant criminals they'll hold are "raping our citizens in many, many ways."

News outlets report that Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson spoke Tuesday at a Board of Commissioners meeting , asking for additional federal funds to house inmates for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service.

The funds allow the sheriff's office to hire 30 people, give officers a raise and buy vans and equipment. The office signed a U.S. Marshals contract and an ICE contract is under review.
