Rhode Island homeless programs awarded $6M in federal grants
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Jack Reed says $6 million in federal grants have been awarded to programs to help homeless people in Rhode Island.
The Rhode Island Democrat announced the federal Continuum of Care grants Friday and called on the Trump administration to make the money available quickly.
President Donald Trump signed a bill Friday to reopen the federal government for three weeks, backing down from his demand that Congress give him money for his border wall before federal agencies go back to work.
Reed says the $6 million will support 32 homeless assistance projects around the state that enable local providers and community partners to deliver safe, affordable housing and supportive services.
