Hartford school board wants to buy adjacent home
HARTFORD, Vt. (AP) — Hartford area voters will consider whether the school district should buy a home next to the high school and middle school.
Officials say the district may need the 3,000-square-foot home in the future as it grows.
The proposal will go before voters March 5.
The Valley News reports the owner of the 1880-era property says his late mother had wanted the home to be offered to the school district before it was placed on the market. The district would buy the home on about half an acre for $315,000.
A school board member says the purchase would be paid in four installments from the school's operating budget.
