Student accused of making comments about school shooting

LYNDON, Vt. (AP) — Police in Vermont have detained a student accused of making comments about a planned shooting at his school.

Lyndonville police detained the student as he got off the bus at the Lyndon Institute on Friday.

Police Chief Jack Harris said it started when the student wore a Halloween costume to a school event featuring "a large, like, desktop calendar and it had a big red arrow on paper pointing to January 31st." Harris said the student later said, "it's a date that Lyndon Institute will never forget."

Police got a search warrant for the student's home, but found no guns.

Lyndon Institute Head of School Twiladawn Perry told students and parents Friday that any threat, if there was one, has been dealt with.
