Bay Area fans have tough choice come Super Sunday
Super Bowl LIII presents a dilemma for Bay Area sports fans:
Rams or Patriots? Pick your poison.
If the “Beat L.A.” chants heard at 49ers, Raiders, Warriors, Giants, A’s and Sharks games are to be believed, then no self-respecting resident of the region can throw his or her support behind the City of Angels.
But on the flip side is an even more insidious plot twist: Is it morally acceptable to root for New England, a franchise that seems to be here every year? A team that forever will be stained by “Spygate” and “Deflategate”? Let’s not forget the “Tuck Rule,” either.
Of course, the Bay Area’s interest goes deeper than geography or scandal.
