Mitty girls use 3-point shooting to overwhelm St. Ignatius
When the nation’s fourth-ranked team gets hot from 3-point range, it can seem unfair for the opposition.
St. Ignatius, The Chronicle’s 14th-ranked girls team, learned that the hard way as host Mitty made 17 3-pointers in a 94-50 West Catholic Athletic League victory Friday night. The 17 treys broke the school record of 13.
The nation’s No. 1 recruit, Haley Jones, made four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 28 points. The 6-foot-1 Stanford-bound standout added 11 rebounds and seven assists for the Monarchs (20-2, 8-0).
Mitty, which got 14 points from Ashley Hiraki and 11 each from Marley Langi and Ania McNicholas, has won 17 straight. All have been by double digits and its average cumulative score on the season is 74-44.
