Coroner IDs man accused of killing girlfriend's son, himself

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A coroner's office in Ohio has identified a man accused of critically wounding his girlfriend and killing her 5-year-old son before fatally shooting himself.

The Dayton Daily News reports the man called 911 in the Dayton suburb of Miami Township Friday morning and said he'd killed his girlfriend and her son and was about to kill himself. The Montgomery County Coroner's Office says 33-year-old Jovonie McClendon Jr. died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities said McClendon and the boy were dead when they arrived. The 27-year-old woman was taken to a hospital where she remained in critical condition Sunday.

Authorities haven't released the names of the boy or his mother.
