Escaped inmate captured by North Carolina police
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina say they have captured an inmate who escaped from prison while on work assignment.
Woodfin police tell local news outlets that 44-year-old Steven W. Coleman was captured Friday morning.
The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said Coleman was last seen at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday until Woodfin officers took him into custody at about 3:30 a.m. Friday. He was a minimum-custody inmate at the Craggy Correctional Center in northern Buncombe County.
Coleman, who was originally serving a sentence for breaking and entering and larceny, now faces a felony escape charge. He is jailed on a $100,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Friday. It's not known if he has an attorney.
