Ex-A’s outfielder Coco Crisp ‘a rookie’ on the radio
MESA, Ariz. - One of the most popular figures of the A’s 2012-14 playoff teams made his debut in the A’s radio booth Sunday, and manager Bob Melvin said he thinks Coco Crisp will be a natural.
“He’ll do fine, he knows the game,” Melvin said. “When I had him, I told him, ‘You’re one of the easiest guys I’ve had to manage,’ because he understands the game, you know he’s going to be prepared to play and just let him do his thing.
“He would ask me questions sometimes and outfielders are kind of out there, you’d think, in their own little thing, but he would watch the game intricately and knew when we were making moves and understood the pitching dynamics. He watched the game a little differently than most outfielders do.
