Picks of the week

The Sea The Sea had a breakout year in 2018. The Troy-based indie-pop group—led by married couple Mira and Chuck Costa—released their second album, "From The Light," in June, and played 150 shows, double the gigs they usually get. Praised as "two of the loveliest male-female voices you might ever hear this or any other year" by the Huffington Post, The Sea The Sea has expanded to a quartet. The group has made a serious commitment to songwriting, which Chuck Costa characterized as "more intense than we ever experienced" in a December 2018 Times Union interview. The Sea The Sea returns to the Capital Region this week for a show at Caffe Lena. 7 p.m. Thursday. $9-$18. Caffe Lena, 47 Phila St., Saratoga Springs. 518-583-0022; caffelena.org

Comic Bobby Collins' path to center stage led through the high fashion industry. During the stand-up comedy boom of the 1980s, Collins was a vice president at Calvin Klein, where he was a top salesman making good money. But Collins always wanted to make people laugh. So he quit his day job and became a full-time comic, which has worked out quite well. Widely regarded as a "comic's comic," Collins has opened for Frank Sinatra, Cher, and Julio Iglesias, and he's shared the stage with Chris Rock, Ray Romano and Drew Carey. Collins brings his skewed view of daily life to town this week. Local comic and singer Erin Harkes opens the show.
7 p.m. Thursday. $40. Proctors, 432 State St., Schenectady. 518-346-6204; proctors.org

Agatha Christie has a deliciously wicked way of telling a story. In Christie's "And Then There Were None," 10 strangers—each with a wicked past that they won't talk about and a secret that will give them away—travel to a remote...
