[Men's Lacrosse] Mechanics Use Strong Start to Top Sussex County Community College
Over the years it has been said that the best way to overcome a disappointing loss from the game before is to come out strong at the start of the next game. The Williamson lacrosse team took that adage to heart on Saturday as they raced to a 6-0 first quarter lead and never looked back on the way to a 17-4 victory over Sussex County Community College on Saturday afternoon. The game was played at Penncrest High School.
Jacob Long (JR/Broomall, PA) scored two first quarter goals, while Nate Lohr (FR/Springfield, PA), Jim Carey, James Moorhead (JR/Norwood, PA) and Jimmy McGarrigle (FR/Swarthmore, PA) each scored one goal apiece to put the Mechanics up 6-0 at the end of the opening stanza. Williamson stretched their lead to 7-0 before the Skylanders got on the board midway through the second quarter.
Williamson entered halftime with an 11-3 lead. Williamson then scored the only three goals of the third quarter, before outscoring Sussex 3-1 in the final stanza.
Nate Lohr, James Moorhead, Jacob Long, Jim Carey and Jimmy McGarrigle all had five points each on the day. Lohr and Moorhead each had four goals and an assist, while Carey and McGarrigle had three goals and two assists. Long had two goals and three assists. Chris Munn (JR/East Landsdowne, PA) added two goals and an assist.
