HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut public bus driver has been rehired after officials fired him for assaulting a passenger after the passenger hit him with a cane.

The Hartford Courant reports that Stefan Knox, a bus driver for 19 years, has been rehired by CTtransit under the condition that similar disciplinary issues will result in termination.

CTtransit says Knox had only minor infractions in the past

The fighting occurred outside a depot on March 4 in Hamden.

Officials had said that the video showed Knox getting hit with a cane on the bus by passenger William Horn and Knox and Horn fighting.

Officials say a later video shows Knox striking Horn in the street after leaving the bus and then returning to confront Horn.

Police charged 65-year-old Horn with assault.
