Marshall adding business incubator to help startups

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Marshall University is adding a business incubator to its visual arts center in Huntington.

The Herald-Dispatch reports the university announced on Tuesday the creation of the Brad D. Smith Business Incubator, which aims to offer mentorship and support for early stage startup businesses. A Marshall Alumnus, Smith is executive board chairman of Intuit and chairman of Nordstrom.

The school says entrepreneurs can apply for a space in the business incubator to help them come up with ideas to grow the local and regional economy. The facility allows entrepreneurs access to office space and Marshall's "innovation ecosystems," including subject matter experts and student interns.
