Spelling error means graduation stoles have to be replaced

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Students at a North Carolina university will have to replace their graduation stoles because a vendor made a spelling error.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports the vendor transposed the "I'' and the "s'' on stoles meant for the graduating class at Winston-Salem State University. Some of the students who ordered them had already received them. A school spokesman said it was the vendor who made the error and not the school, adding that it's not known exactly how many of the students had received the stoles with the error on them.

A tweet from the university on Tuesday assured students their new and corrected stoles would be delivered by April 26. Commencement is scheduled for May 10, when students will wear new red and white caps and gowns.
