Curves are encouraged at Curvention. The event aims to empower plus-sized women who love the skin they're in and support and reassure those who struggle with their body image. Curvention, which focuses on body positivity, will present "Tales of a Phat Girl." The event will be hosted by Julianna Obie. Participants can walk the red carpet before Curvention starts. Hungarian folk act Sondorgo uses the tambura, a mandolin-like instrument with doubled steel strings, to propel its traditional Hungarian folk sound. The five-piece band and its take on tamburitza music have become quite popular in Europe since their formation in the mid-1990s. The band, committed to preserving and propelling the musical traditions of Croatia and Serbia, has performed at world music festivals like WOMAD and WOMEX. Sondorgo, which released its latest album, "Nyloc 8 Nyloc," in March, is touring the states and will appear at Caffe Lena this week as part of the venue's Nordlys Global Voices series.

Revered Argentinean folk guitarist Juan Falu is a self-taught musician and a psychologist who fled his native Argentina in the 1970s only to return in the mid-1980s. He's also an inventive improvisational guitarist with an innate knowledge of traditional Latin American folk rhythms.
