Indianapolis detective shoots suspect after he grabs gun
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis police say a detective has shot and wounded a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of a liquor store security guard.
Police says officers tracked 29-year-old Jarius Moore 29 to a video store on the city's west side Friday afternoon and attempted to apprehend him, blocking Moore's vehicle car from leaving the parking lot.
They say Moore left his vehicle and began to flee, then turned around to grab a handgun from the vehicle. That's when the detective fired his weapon, striking Moore.
Police say Moore has been hospitalized in serious condition. He's expected to survive.
The name of the detective hasn't been released.
Police say Moore was wanted in connection with the March 27 liquor store shooting and had an active warrant for multiple charges.
