It Could Have Been A Lot Worse For Eloy Jiménez
White Sox rookie Eloy Jiménez left Friday’s game in the third inning, when he crashed into the outfield wall and injured his ankle. He was able to walk off the field with help from the team trainer and fortunately for Jiménez and the White Sox the injury isn’t as bad as it could have been.
The White Sox announced on Sunday that Jiménez has been placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to April 27. The left fielder will be re-evaluated in a couple weeks.
Here was the play, when his ankle got pinned up against the wall against the Tigers.
Despite still being in pain, the rookie says he’s feeling better and extremely lucky it wasn’t more serious.
After signing a record-breaking contract before his first MLB at-bat, Jiménez has three home runs and eight RBIs, hitting .241 (19-for-79) in his first 21 games.
