[Men's Tennis] Tennis Falls to Nationally Ranked RCGC in Season Ending Loss

The Williamson tennis team closed out their 2019 season with a 9-0 defeat at the hands of nationally ranked Rowan College at Gloucester County on Monday afternoon at Penn State Brandywine.

One of the top teams in the nation, and winner of multiple national championships, RCGC came out strong in doubles play and jumped out to an early 3-0.  Chris Smith (SR/Tullahoma, TN) and John Coleman (SR/Chichester, PA) lost 8-2 at First Doubles, while Adrian Alicia and Isaac Eshenour (SR/Shippensburg, PA) lost 8-3 at Second Doubles.  Dan Barnes (JR/Wilmington, DE) and Dan Nixon (FR/Lansdale, PA) lost at Third Doubles, 8-0.

RCGC continued their dominance in singles play, as they won each of the six singles matches in straight sets.

The loss brings to a close an abbreviated 2019 season for Williamson but one that saw marked improvement by each of the eight team members under the guidance of first year head coach Jason Kutzura.  The match also brought to a conclusion the careers of Chris Smith, John Coleman and Isaac Eshenour.  All three have played a crucial role in the success of the Williamson tennis program and will be sorely missed.
