WVa House education chair resigns
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The chairman of the West Virginia House of Delegates education committee has stepped down from his post.
Republican Del. Danny Hamrick on Tuesday submitted a brief letter saying that his resignation as chair is effective immediately. He did not state a reason why he was leaving.
A House spokesman provided the resignation letter to The Associated Press and said a new chair will be named in the coming days. He declined to comment further.
Voicemails left on numbers listed as Hamrick's home and office were not immediately returned.
The resignation comes as lawmakers are set to meet for a special legislative session on education.
