Inslee rallies with young climate activists in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Jay Inslee is praising young people rallying for action on climate change.

The Washington governor appeared with students in Las Vegas on Friday as they called for government leaders to address the warming planet. Similar demonstrations were held around the world Friday.

Inslee has staked his 2020 bid for the White House on a climate change-focused message. The 68-year-old said Friday that young people are "posing a moral obligation" on older Americans to tackle the issue.

The governor also announced he'd earned enough campaign donations to appear in the Democratic presidential debates starting next month.

Inslee says he'd had a surge of donors in the past few days and twice noted Friday that freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a sought-after and influential voice on the left, had recently praised his climate plan.
