Netflix has people (serenely) bulldozing their closets, and thrift stores are riding the wave

Cnn.com

Do you have too much stuff? Is your house a loosely-joined collection of garbage piles among which you tread, as dazed and rudderless as a possum in a landfill? Are you tied to your material possessions because you have chosen to fill the empty parts in your life with consumerism and thus your soul is scattered among promotional t-shirts and expired tubes of body lotion?

Film Review: ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’

Variety

A likable enough, Amblin-esque update to the classic Arthurian legend, “The Kid Who Would Be King” is hardly the first time a group of adolescents have saved England from supernatural harm in a Joe Cornish movie. That said, much of the attitude and originality that drew fans to the irreverent writer-director’s inner-city alien-invasion debut “Attack […]

"Inheritance" is fundamentally a tale of soul-searching. Much of the book consists of Shapiro processing and pondering each new bit of information. "What do we inherit, and how and why?" she asks. "What had I inherited psychologically? What was in my blood?"

China's Huawei 'fires' employee arrested in Poland

Business Standard

Chinese telecom giant Huawei has fired a Chinese employee who was arrested in Poland over espionage allegations, saying he had harmed the company's global reputation, a state-run newspaper said Saturday. Wang Weijing was arrested for "personal reasons", the company said in a statement to the Global Times, as Huawei apparently seeks to distance itself from the case as the firm faces Western fears that it could act as a proxy for China's security apparatus. "This incident created harmful effects on Huawei's global reputation," the company said. Читать дальше...
