Aviation regulator DGCA has put in place norms for the roll-out of the much-awaited "digi yatra" facility, which will make air travel paperless and hassle-free. An initiative of the civil aviation ministry and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the facility seeks to minimise paperwork for air travel under a digital system or e-boarding process for airport entry and boarding flights using documents such as a passenger's Aadhaar number and mobile phone, among others. Traders' body CAIT Monday urged Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu to order a probe into Witzig-Amazon bid to acquire Aditya Birla Retail Ltd, which operates supermarket store chain 'More'. Fair trade regulator CCI Friday said it has approved the deal. In a statement, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) alleged "it is a clear case of circumventing the FDI Policy in e-commerce" and exhorted Prabhu to "order a probe in the matter and till then the takeover should be stayed". A new luxury vessel has started sailing on the Brahmaputra to take tourists from here to Jorhat, and other destinations along the river, operator Assam Bengal Navigation (ABN) said Monday. A Taliban attack on a military compound in central Afghanistan killed more than 120 security personnel, according to an anonymous defense ministry official cited by Reuters.
