BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is planning to visit a Boston mosque. Organizers say the visit Friday to the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center — the largest mosque in New England — is the first by a sitting Republican Massachusetts governor. Muslims are mandated to attend weekly prayers each Friday. The service typically begins with an invocation at 1:00 p.m., followed by a half-hour sermon and by a brief congregational prayer. Hate crimes charged in Pittsburgh synagogue massacre case

A man accused of opening fire at a Pittsburgh synagogue in October, killing 11 people and wounding seven others, now faces additional counts that include allegations of hate crimes. A federal grand jury Tuesday added 19 charges to the 44 counts previously levied against Robert Bowers of Baldwin, Pennsylvania. Thirteen of the new counts against the 46-year-old Bowers are hate crime violations and the others accuse him of obstructing religious beliefs and discharging a firearm during crimes of violence. All 3 aboard medical helicopter killed in crash in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say three people aboard a medical helicopter have died in a crash in southeastern Ohio. A vice president of Survival Flight medical transportation says there were no patients aboard. Andrew Arthurs says the three who died were crew.
