Australian safety authority suspends operation of Boeing 737 Max 8
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has joined other countries in suspending the operation of the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. CASA says it’s in the best interests of safety to ground the jets, operated in Australia currently by Fiji Airways into Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, while Singapore’s Silk Air’s services to Darwin and Cairns have already been moved onto older planes. The decision was made after a Boeing 737 Max 8 flight operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed just moments after take-off on Sunday, killing 157 people.
