Most wireless communications use RF or radio frequency communications to send data back and forth. But all that information can slow things down. One National Science Foundation supported researcher is using light to send information, and, as we hear from VOA's Kevin Enochs, it’s quicker and more secure than RF.
In Myanmar, decades of conflict and displacement have left swathes of land abandoned and undocumented, especially in the ethnic regions. In 2012, the Vacant, Fallow, and Virgin Lands Management law was enacted, classifying about one third of Myanmar’s land as such - and instructing land dwellers to register the land they were occupying or using to obtain a 30 year permit. Last months’ deadline to obtain the permit has passed, leaving thousands of land dwellers at risk. Steve Sandford reports.

AT&T has sold its minority stake in Hulu back to Hulu.
The transaction valued Hulu at $15 billion, with AT&T’s 9.5% interest valued at $1.43 billion. The transaction did not require any governmental or other third-party approvals and was simultaneously signed and closed.

The iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris caught fire Monday, but firefighters believe they have saved part of the iconic structure. Images and video showed flames and thick plumes of smoke billowing near its spire, which was surrounded by scaffolding. The spire and roof eventually collapsed.
