To the editor: Nuclear keeps Ohio rates down

Today, Ohio has the most competitive industrial electricity prices in the Midwest: 25 percent lower than in Indiana and a 40 percent lower than Michigan. These low prices are in large part due to the Davis-Besse and Perry nuclear plants, which have grown the state’s diverse energy infrastructure and provided Ohioans with clean, affordable nuclear energy.

End the budget impasse

Gov. Mike DeWine made a suggestion for ending the budget impasse: deal with the repeal of a small-business income tax cut separately to allow the $69 billion two-year budget to be enacted.

To the editor: Staff showed compassion in outage

At 8 a.m. on June 21, a power outage occurred at the Toledo Municipal Court and the Government Center. Staff were permitted inside the building, while the public were directed to wait outside until power was restored and the courthouse opened.

Shirley Jo Bechtel (1935-2019)

Shirley Jo Bechtel, the first Banana Boat distributor in Ohio and Michigan, died June 15 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Township. She was 83.

As reported by Air Force Times, during his visit to Osan Air Base after his visit to the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, Trump cheered plans in the Pentagon’s budget to buy 78 more F-35s, 24 new F/A-18s and eight F-15EX fighter jets, before pivoting to the Warthog.
