CPI withdraws support to TRS in Huzurnagar bypoll

Nepal, China agree to re-measure height of Mt. Everest

Nepal and China have agreed to jointly re-measure the height of Mount Everest, amidst reports that the world's highest peak may have shrunk after the massive earthquake that shook the Himalayan nation in 2015. Many geologists have argued that the magnitude 7.6 earthquake that jolted Nepal in April 2015 may have shrunk the mountain by about three centimetres, while the current officially recognised height of Mount Everest is 8,848 metres. Meghalaya HC fines seven for frivolous invoking of writ jurisdiction

The Meghalaya High Court on Monday slapped a fine of Rs 35,000 on seven persons who had petitioned it seeking a stay on the order of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council prohibiting hawking by non-tribals without valid license. Dismissing the writ petition, HC Chief Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal ordered that each of the seven petitioners must pay Rs 5000 separately to the district council within two weeks for "frivolous invoking of the writ jurisdiction".
