PM hails Deve Gowda's contribution to COVID-19 relief funds

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday appreciated the contribution of former premier H D Deve Gowda to various funds, including the PM-CARES, set up recently to fight the coronavirus pandemic. "Very inspiring gesture by our former Prime Minister @H_D_Devegowda Ji," Modi tweeted. He was responding to a tweet by Gowda's Office which said the veteran leader, out of the pension he receives, has contributed Rs 1 lakh each to PM Cares Fund, government of Karnataka Chief Minister's Relief Fund, and Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. Manipur CM urges PM to take steps for stopping harassment of NE people in other states

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action for stopping racial slur and harassment that the people of the Northeastern region are facing in different parts of the country amid the coronavirus crisis. During a video conference, Singh urged the PM to direct the states to do the needful to stop harassment of NE people. 187 new COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, count 1,761; 17 deaths

The number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra reached 1,761 on Saturday with 187 new patients being detected. A state health department statement also said that 17 coronavirus patients died during the day, including 12 in Mumbai. With this the death toll due to COVID-19 in the state rose to 127. Out of the 1761 positive patients, 1146 are in Mumbai, followed by 228 from Pune. Survey: Over 90 percent of citizens support continued COVID-19 restrictions

Estonian residents are increasingly in support of measures imposed by the government during its emergency situation, aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus, according to a survey conducted on behalf of the government. Only 7 percent said they wanted the restrictions to be eased, and 37 percent said they should be intensified, according to the survey.
