Anaheim Ducks re-sign Djoos, Hakanpää to 1-year contracts

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed defensemen Christian Djoos and Jani Hakanpää to one-year contracts. The Ducks announced the deals Wednesday. Djoos will make $1 million next season, and Hakanpää gets $750,000. Djoos had one goal and two assists in nine games with the Ducks after they acquired him from the Washington Capitals

Missouri to seek death penalty in Wisconsin brothers' deaths

The state of Missouri plans to seek the death penalty against a man charged with killing two brothers from Wisconsin, according to the man's new attorney. Garland Nelson is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and several other counts in the deaths of Nicholas and Justin Diemel, of Shawano County, Wisconsin. Patrick Berrigan, a public defender who handles only death penalty cases, told the St. Joseph News-Press Wednesday that the state would seek the death penalty.
