'Total crash' in visa applications reveals impact of pandemic on migration
There has been a “total crash” in the number of visa applications to the UK during the coronavirus outbreak, in the clearest indication yet of the impact of the pandemic on migration. The number of visas granted fell by 99 per cent in the second quarter of 2020, compared with data from the first. New Home Office figures also found that between April and June the number of people granted skilled worker visas plummeted by 95 per cent on a year earlier.
