New video by Addison: Wildwater rivers can look deceptively flat - until you're in a raft and bombing through the waves. A river wave differs from a sea wave and can be much more powerful than one of the same size. The reason is that in the sea the water stands still and the wave moves through it. In the river the water is moving all the time and the wave stands still. So the power and weight of the river outmatches similar sized waves in the ocean.
