This comes after a large number of women were forced to drop off during the pandemic, when many had to bear a disproportionately higher burden of household work. Moreover, with schools and day-care facilities shut, no domestic help at home and caregiving responsibilities of the elderly, many women put their careers on the back burner. However, the widespread adoption of remote work post pandemic and proactive efforts from companies to hire returnees are helping them stage a comeback.

Longer opening hours for passport office introduced

The passport office has extended its opening hours, including on Sundays in response to long queues of people wanting to submit applications. The office will now be open between Monday and Friday from 7.30am to 6pm, on Saturdays between 7.30am and 2pm, and on Sundays between 7.30 and 11am. In a Facebook post announcing the longer opening hours, Identity Malta said these were temporary measures but did not specify for how long the new hours will remain. India's exports of agricultural and processed food products rose by 14 percent in the first three months of the current Financial Year 2022-23 (April-June) compared to the corresponding period of FY 2021-22.
