BHP shareholders vote against resolution to lobby Australian government on climate

BHP Group shareholders voted against a resolution calling on the mining giant to lobby the Australian government on its climate change policy at its annual general meeting on Thursday. Only 13% of shareholders voted in favour of the resolution, which was opposed by BHP's board, according to results of the AGM released by the miner on the bourse.

Renewable resources company Sappi achieved record earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) of $1.34-billion for the financial year ended September 30 – exceeding the previous record of $1.05-billion for the group's financial year ended September 30, 2000. Ebitda was also significantly higher than the $532-million reported for the 2021 financial year.
