Another Russian found dead in Odisha, third in fortnight

The 51-year-old man was the chief engineer of the vessel, M B Aldnah, which was on its way to Mumbai from Chittagong Port in Bangladesh via Paradip. He was found dead in his ship chamber around 4.30 am. Two Russian tourists, including a lawmaker, were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Rayagada town in southern Odisha in the latter half of December.

A statement made by a minister cannot be attributed vicariously to the government even when applying the principle of collective responsibility, the Supreme Court said on Tuesday. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Justice S A Nazeer said no additional restrictions against free speech can be imposed except those mentioned under Article 19(2) of the Constitution.

According to a TOI report, the authority stated, “Irrespective of whether customers of Riddhi Enterprises (the applicant, which is a stand-alone restaurant) consumed food & beverages prepared and supplied to them in the restaurant itself or by way of a takeaway, it would qualify as a ‘restaurant service’. This attracts GST at 5% without input tax credit.”

Maruti Suzuki report highest ever exports at 263,068 units, up 28% in 2022

Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday reported a 28 per cent rise in exports at 2,63,068 units in 2022, its highest ever overseas shipments. The company's previous highest exports was achieved in 2021 with 2,05,450 units. The highest exported models in 2022 were Dzire, Swift, S-Presso, Baleno and Brezza, the company said in a statement. Govt has pipeline of 44 port projects worth Rs 22,900 cr till 2024-25: Sarbananda Sonowal

On the policy front, the ministry is working on the Guidelines for dealing with stressed PPP projects at major ports, Sonowal said. The Ports, Shipping and Waterways minister further said that under the National Monetization Pipeline (NMP), MoPSW has accorded approval to 22 projects worth Rs 12,222 crore. Out of the 22 projects, seven projects worth Rs 5,278 crore have already been awarded on PPP mode, rest projects are in various stages of bidding, he added.
