Chicago firefighter dies during house fire response
Authorities say a Chicago firefighter has died after he and two other firefighters were injured while battling a predawn house fire. Chicago's Fire Commissioner says firefighter Jermaine Pelt was working a hose line early Tuesday when conditions worsened and all firefighters were ordered outside. It wasn’t immediately clear what caused Pelt’s death. The commissioner said the 49-year-old firefighter “went down” as crews were being ordered out. He later died at a hospital.
