A Toms River man who admitted to pushing a police officer outside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 will spend the next 18 months in prison, well below what attorneys suggested he serve behind bars. Salvatore Vassallo, 60, pleaded guilty in May to assaulting, resisting or impeding a police officer, in federal court in Washington, D.C.
