China cuts key interest rate in latest move to boost its ailing property sector

China's central bank has cut its five-year loan prime rate while leaving its one-year rate unchanged. It was the first time the five-year rate, which is a benchmark for mortgage rates, was cut since May. The five year rate was lowered by 0.25 basis points to 3.95% while the one-year rate remains at 3.45%. There was scant immediate reaction in markets to the decision, with the Shanghai Composite index remaining nearly unchanged by midday Tuesday. Delhi's St Stephen's College allegedly suspends students for not attending morning assembly, calls parents meet

St Stephen's College has reportedly suspended around 100 first-year students for not attending morning assembly and has threatened to debar them if they do not call their parents. Students and teachers have written to the principal urging him to withdraw the suspension order and the threat of debarment. The students explained that setting an appointment was not feasible as their parents do not live in Delhi.

Nickel woes worsen for Glencore-backed miner as budget jumps 87%

Glencore-backed Horizonte Minerals is warning that it needs a whole new financing package to restart a nickel project in northern Brazil after a review revealed the mine will cost 87% more than thought. In the latest sign of the challenges facing mining projects around the world, the London-listed firm said it’s engaging with existing and potential new investors on a “full financing solution” as well as holding talks to restructure company debt facilities.
