Fire at an Istanbul nightclub during renovations kills at least 29 people
A fire broke out at an Istanbul nightclub during renovations, killing at least 29 people. One person was injured. The nightclub was on the ground and basement floors of a 16-story residential building on the European side of the city. The fire has been extinguished. Gov. Davut Gul says the cause of the fire is under investigation. The victims were believed to be involved in the renovation work. Authorities have detained five people for questioning, including managers of the club and one person in charge of the renovations.
