Labour offers pragmatic rail reform with minimal expenditure

Transportinfo.org.uk

Cogitamus - The 25th of April policy document Labourmp;#39;s Plan to Fix Britainmp;#39;s Railwaysmp;#39; is really rather good, and a refreshing contrast to the years of drift under the present government.

Urgent rail investment decisions for the North face new UK Government

Transportinfo.org.uk

Cogitamus - Barring something extraordinary happening, the election looks to be a one horse race and Labour will form the next government. Transportinfo.org.uk

Cogitamus - Louise Haigh, the new Secretary of State, has certainly hit the ground running, consistent with her mantra of mp;quot;move fast and fix thingsmp;quot;. Three railway tales for the end of a tumultuous year

Transportinfo.org.uk

Cogitamus - Chiltern Railwaysmp;#39; Marylebone Aylesbury service is unique as part of the route, between Harrow and Amersham, operates over London Underground infrastructure. At the start of November, both RMT and ASLEF called strikes which would have effectively shut down the Underground network. The ASLEF strikes would not have directly impacted Chiltern but the RMT strikes included signallers so that the LUL section of the route would have been shut. Chiltern therefore publicised that it would... Читать дальше...

Chris Stokes reflects on a long railway career in his final KeepingTrack column

Transportinfo.org.uk

Cogitamus - I joined British Rail at the start of 1967 in the Signalling and Telecommunications Department of the then London Midland Region. I was sponsored by BR through university, making me relatively wealthy compared with most of my contemporaries at the princely salary of mp;pound;550 per annum!
