I wish he played for us. CC and SL winner.
Red Vee gotten heated.
Someone spouting all players of full nationality who play for Saints now as mixed race?...Huh!
I think only Regan Grace is mixed race British there.
I sincerely hope that period is well gone...but this player wasn't full of praise...he faced it throughout his whole Saints period. He won't talk about it media public, but it isn't a secret to him. If he's told me...he certainly told others.
Racism isn't welcome anywhere but it's a taboo that sadly went/goes on...and it doesn't always take form of name calling...it's attitude towards someone....and that was mainly how it manifested while this player was there.
Hey let's not dust it all under the carpet and it isn't/wasn't just Saints...I remember the monkey chanting that went on at Warrington and it only ended at our club following the signing of Des Drummond.
I can beat a shatty stick at Saints but I can also see shame of history at my own club.
I'm not aware of anyone at Saints who has been there since the era you are talking about. Possibly some of the old ambassadors who aren't actually involved, so it's not likely to still be a problem. There have been very public allegations of racism at Saints over the years. Bobbie Goulding being one fingers were pointed at, Hanley also allegedly on the receiving end when he was there. There certainly hasn't been any widespread racism from the fans at Saints in the last 35 years and a lot of black/mixed race players are Hall of Famers and absolute gods amongst the fans so I don't think what you are saying has much merit. Racism and Saints aren't words I'd put together.
Once you go back to the pre 80s you are into an era where racism was widespread in society. I remember going to Thrum Hall in the early 80s and there being bananas flying at us sat on the wall round the ground from the Halifax fans. I didn't have a clue what they were for, thought they'd been given away to the supporters as you often did in those days, with things like soft drinks and chocolate bars given out.
