NATIONAL SUMMARY

Steamy air will return with showers and thunderstorms across

the upper Ohio Valley and central Appalachians tomorrow.

Showers can dampen Maine as near-record heat builds from

southern Georgia through the Carolinas and portions of

Virginia. Pockets of showers and thunderstorms will set up

over the Florida Peninsula, central and western Gulf Coast

and southern Plains. The greatest risk for storms to turn

locally severe will be across portions of the Midwest. A

storm system will bring showers to Washington, ending the

area's dry stretch. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast

to bubble up during the heating of the day across the

Rockies. Dry and fairly seasonable weather is expected to

prevail throughout the remainder of the West.
