Siena men's basketball reaches out to community
On an 85-degree day that was hotter on the blacktop, 13 players and the coaching staff ran a skills clinic for about 30 children from CAPTAIN, an organization that seeks to help troubled teens, individuals and families in Saratoga County and beyond.
First-year head coach Carmen Maciariello is a Clifton Park native who grew up less than 10 minutes from the site of Monday's appearance.
"The question is asked, is it important for you that it's in Clifton Park,'' Maciariello said. "No, we'll go to Troy, we'll go wherever there's a chance to make an impact. We want to have our guys with the voice and the ability to brighten people's days. When you watch us play, hopefully we're inspiring and we're playing with a smile and everyone's watching us and hopefully we're creating fans here as well as giving back to someone to make their day a little brighter."
