SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Kura Oncology Inc. (KURA) on Thursday reported a loss of $14.9 million in its second quarter.

The San Diego-based company said it had a loss of 38 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 41 cents per share.

Kura Oncology shares have increased 40% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $19.63, a fall of nearly 10% in the last 12 months.
