Career Education: 2Q Earnings Snapshot
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) _ Career Education Corp. (CECO) on Wednesday reported a second-quarter loss of $559,000, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Schaumburg, Illinois-based company said it had a loss of 1 cent per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and to account for discontinued operations, were 39 cents per share.
The for-profit education company posted revenue of $156.4 million in the period.
For the current quarter ending in October, Career Education expects its per-share earnings to range from 23 cents to 25 cents.
The company expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.20 to $1.24 per share.
Career Education shares have climbed 61% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $18.37, a rise of nearly 8% in the last 12 months.
