The Chronicle’s recent Homeless Project made me wonder how a city with few to no black residents could have such a large African American homeless population. As a black writer, covering this ongoing crisis is a task weighted with an intangible fatigue and an overwhelming sadness. The reason: It seems like my people are suffering the most.
