The dish: Bacon-wrapped hot dogs

Susie says: "If you're coming here on purpose, you've already made peace with your waistline: Bacon-wrapped hot dogs — aka danger dogs or Tijuana street dogs — are your classic L.A. late-night street food, and it's hard to dispute their excellence in elevating the salty snap of a Pineapple Express (pineapple, scallions and pickled jalapenos) or the smoked bacon Cowboy (barbecue sauce and squidgy house cheddar cheese.)"
The dish: Sweet treats

Susie says: "Colorful, cream-stuffed and silk-glazed, in flavors like mocha, lavender-lemonade or vanilla-chai, Sharlow's blend of coconut cream and coconut milk has a fat content high enough to fry up light and crisp, voluptuously filling out the maple syrup glaze. Boston creams gush an emulsion of whipped oat milk, cornstarch, lemon juice and oil; cinnamon buns as large as my head ooze cinnamon glaze from coiled curves. Customers may drive two hours to Queensbury for birthday treats or the privilege of a sit-down vegan meal, but it's no surprise to see office workers carting out doughnuts in trays, Dunkin'-style."
